Replicated Algonkian Village Replicated Algonkian Village
A version of this outdoor replicated Algonkian village has existed at IAIS since 1979. In 1997, it was moved to its current location on the property. The village contains a longhouse, three wigwams of various materials, a dugout canoe and the Three Sisters Garden.

Simulated Archaeological Site Simulated Archaeological Site
During the 1970s and 1980s, IAIS was involved with the excavation of many archaeological sites in and around Washington, Connecticut where indigenous peoples once lived and worked. This simulated site includes many features that were uncovered by archaeologists during those digs.

Gardens & Nature Trails Gardens & Nature Trails
IAIS has several winding nature trails, featuring plant and tree identification along the route, as well as two major gardens on its property: the healing plants garden, featuring plants that indigenous peoples would use for various medicinal purposes; and the Three Sisters Garden in our village.
